Special Education Reform Services

UPD works with states, school districts, and individual schools for the effective implementation of special education services. UPD assists clients in coordinating federal education legislation at school, district and state levels to improve the outcomes of special education services for students with disabilities.

We apply our "School Stat" model to the management challenges an organization faces in providing quality services and instruction to students in special education, working with districts and state offices in creating a management structure to promote data-driven accountability and results. And our methods have been tested in highly scrutinized, poor-performing school districts which are under federal court supervision for special education services.

"SpEdStat" is a mechanism by which managers and staff are engaged in an accountability process to examine key performance indicators and measures that drive the work of a particular division, or cross-department function, to meet results that directly improve outcomes for students who have been identified for or are currently in special education programs. SpEdStat can be pivotal in helping to effectively navigate and meet the requirements of federal law, court orders, consent decrees and internal policy. UPD works intensely with its clients to ensure that, beyond compliance, programs and processes are having their intended outcome.
