Ian Brown, Consultant

Ian Brown

Ian Brown is the newest member of the UPD Consulting team. A 2006 graduate of the Urban Regional Planning program at Ryerson University in Toronto, Canada, this urban planner brings with him a unique range of skills and insight to urban policy. Prior to joining UPD, Mr. Brown was a community organizer working with a former Toronto Mayor to equip residents of an inner-city neighborhood to face a controversial revitalization plan. He also has experience in GIS mapping, spatial data analysis, and land use planning.

Among his other involvements, Mr. Brown is the founder of AIDS Underground, a non-profit group in support of AIDS relief in Africa. In 2006, Mr. Brown assisted in the development and implementation of a Site Plan database for a Toronto suburb. The project allows town staff to access historic and recent planning information and perform tasks that would usually require paper files and hardcopy documents.
